REAL TALK ABOUT REAL GROUND

This ink flows in Amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton) on Treaty 6 territory – traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route of the nêhiyawak (Cree), Anishinaabe (Saulteaux), Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), Métis, Dene, and Nakota Sioux. A place where paths crossed long before concrete cut through prairie.

We acknowledge the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who walked before us. Their stories, traditions, and art forms have marked this land and its people for generations.

Our scene grows from ground that holds countless layers of history. We’re here because of treaties, agreements, and resistance. Today’s ink marks are just the latest in a long line of ways humans have adorned and honored their bodies on these lands.

To our Indigenous artists, clients, and community members – past, present, and future – we see you, we value your voices, and we commit to being active participants in reconciliation through action, not just words.
